Tigers Fall Short to Clippers, 73-68



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Concordia College by the score of 73-68 on Saturday afternoon inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
Concordia used a 12-2 run to change the course of the game midway through the first half.  The Clippers trailed 19-18 after junior Dyllon Hudson-Emory (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) gave the Tigers a 19-18 lead at the 10:35 mark.  Six minutes later, Concordia held a double-digit lead after Brandon Fields knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 31-21.
 
By the end of the half Concordia still maintained its double-digit lead and took a 36-26 advantage into the locker rooms at halftime. 
 
In the second half the Tigers chipped away at the Clippers lead and by the midway mark trailed by only four points when redshirt Ryan Corcoran (Royersford, Pa./Spring Ford) knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 49-45.  As the half progressed, Holy Family once again came within four points with less than four minutes to play.  Hudson-Emory hit a jumper that brought the score to 56-52. 
 
However, Concordia responded with a mini 7-0 run over the next two minutes and increased its lead to 11 points (63-52) after Elijah Brown converted a three-point play with a free throw.  The Tigers came within five points with under a minute to play but the Clippers converted their free throws down the stretch to keep the Tigers at bay.  Concordia went 6-of-8 from the line in the final minute and finished 27-of-34 for the game.

Holy Family: Hudson-Emory led all scorers with a game-high 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season…Corcoran scored a season-high 12 points… Freshman Maliq Sanders (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) added eight points, four rebounds and six assists, while freshman Randy Bell (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) contributed eight points, three rebounds and two assists.
 
Concordia: The Clippers had four players score in double-figures led by Stephen Milhaven who finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds… Milhaven was one of three Clippers' players to record a double-double… Justyn Gardner totaled 15 points and 12 rebounds and Jalen Heath recorded 14 points and 12 boards… Heath also added eight assists and three steals… Brandon Fields added 11 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the eighth meeting all-time between Holy Family and Concordia dating back to the 2009-2010 season.  The Tigers are now 3-5 versus the Clippers.

Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 17 as the Tigers travel to face Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
