Tigers Advance to CACC Semifinals After Rolling Past Caldwell



Rosemont, Pa. - The reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champions will be heading back to the conference semifinals as the fourth-seeded Holy Family University women's lacrosse team defeated fifth-seeded Caldwell University, 17-3, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday evening at the Ravens Athletic Complex on the campus of Rosemont College.

How It Happened
Holy Family wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard after winning the opening draw the Tigers went down filed and senior Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) connected on the first goal of the game less than a minute into the action.
 
As the half progressed, Holy Family maintained its lead that started on the opening drive and held a 6-3 advantage midway through the half.  The Tigers turned it on in the final seven minutes by scoring four unanswered goals to take a 10-3 lead heading into halftime.
 
The start of the second half started just like the first where the Tigers won the opening draw and Harmer went on to score to within the first :30 seconds.  The Holy Family offense outscored Caldwell, 7-0, in the final 30 minutes.  
 
The Tigers controlled a number of offensive and defensive categories through the game.  Holy Family outshot the Cougars, 33-12, and held a slight edge on the draw, 12-10.  The Tigers were quick in picking up ground balls with a 35-23 advantage.

Holy Family: Harmer along with senior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and freshman Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) each scored four goals to lead the Tigers' offense… Settar added an assist to finish with five points to go along with five ground balls, four draws and two caused turnovers… Trevito picked up five ground balls to go with her four scores… Juniors Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) combined for 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers… Booth finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Coyle added six and three in the respective categories…. Senior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) led the team with seven ground balls while scoring a pair of goals… Sophomore Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and freshman Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) each finished with one goal and three assists…Senior Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made six saves in net while allowing single digit goals for the sixth time this season.
 
Caldwell: Rachel Lucia, Pamela Schenck and Mariah Wynn each tallied goals for the Cougars…Lucia also totaled three ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draws…Miranda Harrington led the team with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
 
All-Time Series
Holy Family remains undefeated versus Caldwell at 4-0 as the two teams were meeting for the fourth time in the all-time series and for the first time in postseason play.
 
Playoff History
Holy Family is appearing in its seventh straight CACC Tournament and is now 9-3 all-time in the postseason after knocking off Caldwell in this evening's quarterfinal game.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will now face top-seeded Philadelphia University in the CACC semifinals on Saturday, May 7.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m. as Georgian Court University will serve as host of this year's semifinal and final.
