Tigers Edged by Cross-Town Rival Philadelphia, 13-8



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team fell short to cross-town rival Philadelphia University by the score of 13-8 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match up on Tuesday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

How It Happened
In a low scoring first half that featured a combined seven goals, Philadelphia managed to grab the lead entering halftime with a last second score by senior Liz Mower to give the Rams a 4-3 advantage.  Mower, who scored two goals earlier in the half, finished the afternoon with a game-high seven goals.
 
Freshman Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) treated the Tigers to back-to-back goals to open the scoring in the second half.  Trevito's goals came :30 seconds apart starting at the 24:52 mark to give the Tigers their first lead since midway through the first half. 
 
Over the next 12 minutes Philadelphia scored six unanswered goals to take the biggest lead of the game to that point at 10-5.  Senior Elizabeth Seitzinger capped the run with her only goal of the game with 12:20 to play in the half.
 
Freshman Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) tallied a score on the next Tigers' possession to cut the lead to 10-6 but three consecutive goals by the Rams put the game out of reach.  Mower scored the Rams' final goal with 5:55 to play increasing the lead to 13-6.
 
Holy Family came away with a pair of goals in the final five minutes from freshman Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and senior Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy).

Holy Family: Trevito led the Tigers with three goals on the afternoon to go along with four ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control… Harmer also had a multi-goal game finishing with two goals… Senior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) led the team with five ground balls and three draw controls, while senior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) finished the game with three ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers… Senior Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) maded nine saves in net.
 
Philadelphia: Mower led all scorers with seven goals, including four in the second half… She finished the game with nine points after also tallying two assists… Senior Katie Parent recorded two goals and led the game with eight ground balls to go along with two caused turnovers and three draw controls…Sophomore Corrine Etter picked up the win in net for the Rams as she totaled eight stops.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 18th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Philadelphia.  The Rams picked up their 12th victory over the Tigers improving to 12-6 in the series.
 
CACC Weekly Honors
Harmer was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending April 3 as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.  Harmer recorded eight goals last week, including five scores in the win versus Felician University tying her career-high.
 
Alumni Day
The women's lacrosse team will host their 2nd annual Alumni Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 9 when they host Dominican College.  All alumni in attendance will receive a t-shirt, magnet, decal and pint glass!
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, April 9 as the Tigers host Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
