Game 1: Wilmington 9, Holy Family 2
Holy Family began the day with a match versus Wilmington featuring the only undefeated teams remaining in the tournament.  The stakes were high as the winner automatically advanced to Saturday's title game.

Holy Family took an early lead in the top-half of the first inning thanks to a two-out triple by sophomore Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.).  She would go ahead and score on a passed ball for the game's first run.

The Tigers' lead would be short lived as Wilmington responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning.  From there, the Wildcats took advantage of seven Holy Family errors in the game to go along with 10 hits on their way to the 9-2 victory.

Senior Kristine Casey (Newark, Del./Caravel) and junior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) each went 2-for-3 for the Tigers.

Wilmington's Becca Stanley was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI, while Taylor Rizzotte finished 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Game 2: Holy Family 3, Bloomfield 2
With the season on the line and down to their final six outs, the Tigers rallied from two runs down in the sixth inning to knock off Bloomfield.

Junior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) jumpstarted the rally with a one-out infield hit to the pitcher.  Sophomore Jenna Vasquez (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) followed with a double to right-center field that drove in Scotto.  Vasquez advanced to third on the play after a Bloomfield error.

Vasquez then scored when Favinger grounded out to the pitcher but it was enough to tie the game.  Freshman Samantha Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) then stepped in and blasted a shot over the left field fence to give the Tigers their first lead of the game and eventual victory by a 3-2 score. It marked Klem's team-leading eighth home run of the season.

In the seventh, Bloomfield set the table with back-to-back hits to lead off the inning.  However, Orozco forced back-to-back groundouts, including a double play to end the game.

Orozco (13-8) went the distance for the Tigers as she allowed just two runs over seven innings of work.  She finished the game with four strikeouts.

Bloomfield received run scoring hits by Faith Apolsk in the first inning and by Mariah Frazier in the fifth inning.  Both players collected a pair of hits in the game.

What's Next?
Holy Family will now have to win two games on Saturday to claim its first CACC title in program history. The Tigers last appeared in the conference title game back in 2004.  Holy Family came up short versus Caldwell University, 1-0, in 12 innings. The Tigers will face Wilmington for the fourth time this season and the second time in this year's tournament.  The winner of tomorrow's championship will receive the CACC's automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Approaching 100
Junior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) will enter tomorrow's championship game one hit shy of 100 for her career.  She currently has 99 career hits.  Senior Alexis Maggi (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) is also in striking distance of 100 hits as she currently sits on 96 career hits.

30 Win Mark
With its win versus Bloomfield, the Tigers not only stayed alive in the CACC Tournament but also collected their 30th victory of the season.  It marks the first time since 2000 that Holy Family recorded 30 wins in a season.  That year the Tigers went 38-14 while playing in the NAIA.

Streak Snapped
All good things eventually come to an end and that was the case for the Tigers' season-long 15-game winning streak.  Wilmington snapped the team's streak but Holy Family quickly began a new one bouncing back to defeat Bloomfield.

Next Up
Holy Family faces Wilmington on Saturday afternoon with first pitch set for 12 p.m. at Georgian Court.  The 'If necessary' game will follow if needed.
