How It Happened
One swing of the bat turned out to be the difference in the 2016 CACC Championship game.  Wilmington junior Meghan Brown scored the games only run with a leadoff solo home run in the third inning to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage.

It would be the only blemish on the day for starting pitcher Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs). She gave the Tigers seven strong innings allowing just the one run on five hits.

Her counterpart, sophomore Danielle Bradley, was just as effective as she went six-plus innings on the winning side of the ball.  Bradley gave up six hits to the Holy Family offense and finished with three strikeouts before being pulled in the top-half of the seventh.

Holy Family had its best opportunity to manufacture runs in the top-half of the sixth inning.  The Tigers managed to load the bases with one out, however Bradley was able to get out of inning retiring the final two hitters before any damage was done.

After a lead off base hit by junior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) in the seventh, Wilmington brought in Caitlyn Whiteside to relieve Bradley.  Whiteside retired the three hitters she faced to pick up the save as Bradley received the win.

Orozco went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers as she was named to the CACC All-Tournament team.  She batted .714 (10-for-14) during the tournament including four RBI.  Walters and freshman Samantha Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) also joined Orozco on the All-Tournament team.

100 Career Hits
Junior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) went 2-for-4 at the plate in the championship game and in the process recorded her 100th career hit.  In her second at-bat of the game in the third, Scotto singled to right field for hit number 100.

What Now?
Holy Family, who entered postseason play ranked 10th in the East Region, will wait and see if its success in CACC Tournament was enough to push them into the top eight in the region. The NCAA Division II Softball Selection Show will air on Monday, May 2 at 10 a.m.

Milestone Season
Holy Family is now 30-17 overall this season as the Tigers set a new single season record for wins in the program's Division II era.  It's also the first time since the 2000 season that Holy Family recorded 30 victories. In 2000, the Tigers were 38-14.  In addition, the team's 19-7 mark in conference play is the best since the 2010 team went 18-8 in the CACC.
