Tigers Fall to Georgian Court, 21-6



Lakewood, N.J. - Senior Melissa Williams scored a game-high nine goals as Georgian Court University defeated the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team by the score of 21-6 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

How We Got Here
Georgian Court opened the scoring tallying the first two goals of the game within the first two minutes of action.  Senior Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) came through with the Tigers' first goal of the game to cut the Lions' lead down to one with a score at the 21:57 mark.  It was the first of three scores for Harmer on the afternoon as she became the eighth player in program history to record 100 career points. 
 
After Harmer's goal the Lions tacked on three straight goals before she struck again to make the score 5-2. However, Georgian Court erupted for six unanswered scores to take a commanding 11-2 lead with 10:25 to play in the first half.
 
Holy Family wrapped up the first half scoring three of the final four goals to cut the Georgian Court lead down to 12-5 entering halftime.
 
In the second half Holy Family managed just one goal against senior goalkeeper Stephanie Lehner.  Harmer scored the team's lone goal of the half at the 27:16 mark.  Lehner finished the game with six saves.
 
Georgian Court outscored Holy Family, 9-1, in the second half.

Holy Family: Harmer led the team with three goals, while senior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) finished with three points on one goal and two assists…Senior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) and freshman Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) had the other two goals for the Tigers on the afternoon.
 
Georgian Court: Williams tallied a career-high nine goals and a season-high 13 points after picking up four assists... Senior Callie Brown finished with five goals and two assists, while sophomore Xena Valenzuela contributed three goals and picked up a game-high seven groundballs.
 
100 Points and Counting
Harmer entered the game needing three more points to reach 100 for her career.  With her three goals she became the eighth player in program history to reach the 100-career points milestone.  
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 17th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Georgian Court. With the victory, Georgian Court snapped a nine-game losing streak to Holy Family.  It marked the Lions first victory over the Tigers since April 9, 2011.  The Tigers still control the series with a 9-8 record.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, April 5 as the Tigers travel to face cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
