Tigers Fall to Nationally Ranked LIU Post, 18-6



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference match up to nationally ranked No. 4 LIU Post by the score of 18-6 on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How We Got Here
Holy Family limited the nationally ranked Pioneers to just four goals in the first 23 minutes of action.  The Tigers trailed 4-1 by the midway point of the half and cut the deficit to two scores after senior Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) connected on her first of three goals in the game.  Harmer's goal made the score 4-2 by the 10:23 mark.
 
Later in the half, a turnover by the Tigers led to a quick score by the Pioneers that escalated into a 4-0 run to close out the final seven minutes of the half.
 
Holy Family quickly got on the board in the second half as Harmer found the back of the net within the first :36 seconds.  Freshman Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) won the draw leading to the score.
 
However, LIU Post went on to score five of the next six goals of the game and increased its lead to 13-4 at the 16:10 mark as senior Honey Roche scored the second of her four goals on the afternoon.  Senior Emily Delaney assisted on the play as she went on to finish with a game-high seven assists.
 
LIU Post held the edge in a number of categories, including shots (40-16), turnovers (12-21), draw controls (15-11) and ground balls (33-18).
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Harmer led the Tigers with three goals on the afternoon… Senior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) added two goals to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers… Freshman Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) also scored for the Tigers on a free position attempt…Junior Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) led the team with four ground balls… Senior Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made 14 saves in net.
 
LIU Post: The Pioneers had eight different players score in the victory… Delaney and Roche each tallied a game-high four goals apiece… Delaney also finished with a game-high seven assists to record 11 points on the afternoon… She picked up five ground balls as well…Junior Cara Douglas led the Pioneers with two caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls…Junior Connor Bird tallied two goals and an assist and controlled the draw with seven.

Today's match up marked the fourth meeting all-time between Holy Family and LIU Post.  The Pioneers are now 4-0 versus the Tigers after today's victory.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will host Felician University in the team's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the season on Wednesday, March 30.  The game was original to be play at Felician but now will be held at Tiger Field.  Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
