New Castle, Del. - The Holy Family University softball team suffered a pair of shutout defeats by Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Asbury Field.

GM1 Score: Wilmington 1, Holy Family 0
GM2 Score: Wilmington 7, Holy Family 0
Records: Holy Family (8-10, 2-4 CACC) | Wilmington (12-12, 7-1 CACC)
Location: New Castle, Del. (Asbury Field)

Game 1: Wilmington 1, Holy Family 0
Wilmington freshman Jazmeen Llamas drove in the game's only run in the bottom half of the first inning as the Wildcats went on to shutout the Tigers, 1-0, in the opener.

Sophomore Danielle Bradley (4-5) went 5.1 innings to pick up her fourth win of the season.  She held the Tigers to just one hit, but issued four walks including three hit batters.

Holy Family nearly rallied to tie the game and even take the lead in the seventh.  Sophomore Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) led the inning off with her second double of the game.  Favinger finished the game 2-for-4 and was the only Tigers' player to record a hit.

Sophomore Jenna Vasquez (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) reached base after an error by the Wilmington third baseman and then stole second to give the Tigers runners at second and third with zero outs.  However, freshman Caitlyn Whiteside, who entered the game in the sixth inning in relief of Bradley, managed to retire the next three batters to get out of trouble.

Whiteside recorded a strikeout and then back-to-back groundouts to earn the save.

Junior Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs) (5-6) received the hard-luck loss as she went the distance for the Tigers.  In six innings of work, Walters scattered six hits and allowed just one run.

Game 2: Wilmington 4, Holy Family 0
Wilmington started game two just like it did in game number one by scoring the first runs of the game.  Junior Kaitlyn Slater delivered a double to right-center field to drive in two runs before the Tigers forced a double-play to end the inning.

The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the third inning to double the lead at 4-0.  The score remained that way until the sixth inning when freshman Sarah Coyne launched a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to make the score 7-0 in favor of the home team.

Junior Brooklyn Lachette (3-4) earned the win with a complete game shutout.  She scattered six hits and hit one batter for the Wildcats.

Sophomore Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) (3-4) was the Tigers' pitcher of record.  Orozco went 5.2 innings allowing four runs on six hits.

Senior Alexis Maggi (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) went 2-of-3 at the plate for the Tigers.
