Tigers Fall to Lightning in CACC South Clash



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball suffered its first conference loss of the season after falling to visiting Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 92-62 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
Goldey-Beacom led from beginning to end after opening the game on a 14-2 run.  The Lightning shot lights out in the first half connecting on 20-of-31 from the field for a 64.5-percent clip.  They also converted 6-of-8 from deep range to build a 50-35 halftime advantage.
 
In the second half the Lightning continued their hot shooting and maintained the 60.0-plus shooting percentage deep into the game.  Goldey-Beacom finished the game shooting 59.4-percent from the field and 58.8-percent from three-point range (10-17).

Holy Family: Junior Dyllon Hudson-Emory (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) led a trio of Tigers that scored in double-figures… Hudson-Emory finished with a game-high 20 points while totaling five boards, three assists, one block and four steals…Freshman Randy Bell (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) added 15 points, six rebounds and three steals, while freshman Maliq Sanders (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) finished with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.
 
Goldey-Beacom: The Lightning had six players scored in double-figures, including four that totaled 14 points… Dante Thompson finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double… Riyan Williams fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench… Williams also dished out six assists… Parris Ridgeway-Higgs nearly totaled a triple-double as he filled the stat sheet with 14 points, nine assists and seven rebounds to go along with five steals on defense…Elijah Tillman (13) and Corey Taite (10) also scored in double-digits.

Today marked the 27th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom in the team's Division II era dating back to the 2003-04 season.  The Lightning snapped their four-game losing streak versus the Tigers with the win.  Holy Family still holds an 18-11 record in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will return to action in one week as the Tigers travel to face the University of the Sciences in a CACC South Division contest.  Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
