Tigers Overpower Devils With 76-57 Victory



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team improved to 3-1 in conference play after coming up with a 76-57 victory at the University of the Sciences in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division match up on Saturday afternoon inside the Bobby Morgan Arena.

How It Happened
After USciences opened the game with a three-pointer, Holy Family responded with a 16-0 run over the first five minutes of the game to take full control.  Freshman Randy Bell (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) capped the run with a three-pointer as the Tigers led, 16-13, at the 15:18 mark.
 
As the half progressed the Tigers swelled their lead to as many as 18 points to that point when Bell knocked down another three-pointer.  Bell's third three-pointer of the half gave the Tigers a 35-17 lead with less than six minutes to play in the half. Bell scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.
 
Holy Family went on to take a 15-point lead (40-25) into the locker rooms at halftime after redshirt freshman Trai Greer (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) capped the scoring in the half with a three-pointer.
 
Holy Family maintained its double-digit lead the entire second half and even led by as many as 33 points late.  The Tigers led by 19 points (58-39) midway through the half and used a 14-0 run to increase the lead to 72-39 by the 7:11 mark.  Freshman John Rigsby (Malvern, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) capped the run with a pair of free throws.

Holy Family: Bell led all scorers with 21 points as four players scored in double-figures for the Tigers… Bell also filled the stat sheet with five rebounds, four assists and one steal… Junior Dyllon Hudson-Emory (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds… Greer and freshman Austin Chabot (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) each tied their season-highs with 10 points apiece.
 
USciences: Jon McGill scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Devils' offense… He also totaled five rebounds and three blocks… Will Gregorits also scored in double-figures with 13 points while coming up with a team-best eight rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 30th meeting all-time between Holy Family and USciences in the team's Division II era.  The Tigers are now 16-14 versus the Devils in that span as Holy Family has won eight of the last nine meetings, including four straight.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 17 as the Tigers travel to Albany, N.Y. to take part in the East Region Classic hosted by the College of Saint Rose.  The Tigers will face Assumption College on Saturday (1 p.m.) and then take on the Golden Knights on Sunday, Dec. 18 (3 p.m.)
