Nationally Ranked Spartans Defeat Tigers, 90-74



Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Dyllon Hudson-Emory (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) scored a season-high 33 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball team fell to nationally ranked No. 8 Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 90-74, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
Saint Thomas Aquinas came out firing in the first half as the Spartans connected on almost 60-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.  The Spartans also knocked down 5-of-10 from deep range to build a double-digit advantage by the 12:43 mark of the half.
 
STAC led by nine points (32-23) with 6:40 remaining in the first half and went on to outscore the Tigers, 19-7, the rest of the way to lead 51-30 at the half.
 
In the second half, the Spartans increased their lead to as many as 35 points (74-39) by the midway mark after outscoring the Tigers, 23-9, the first 10 minutes.  Over the next eight minutes the Tigers came soaring back and went from trailing by 35 points to 10 points (90-70).  The Tigers outscored the Spartans, 31-6, in that span and shot 10-of-13 from the field and were 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
 
Despite the rally, the Spartans managed to cool the Tigers down by holding them to just four points the final 2:27 minutes of the half to pick up the 90-74 victory.

Holy Family: Hudson-Emory recorded his first double-double with the Tigers after scoring a season-high 33 points on 12-of-25 shooting from the field…. Hudson-Emory also converted 8-of-11 from the free throw line and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with one block and four steals on defense… Freshman Randy Bell (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) totaled 23 points with 15 coming in the second half… Redshirt freshman Trai Greer (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) scored a season-high 10 points…. Freshman Sean Griffin (Abington, Pa./philmont Christian) grabbed a season-high 11 boards and totaled three steals.
 
Saint Thomas Aquinas: The Spartans had five players score in double-figures, including Walter Chaz who finished with a team-high points to go along with a game-high 10 assists… Jonathan Lawton finished with 16 points, while James Mitchell totaled 12 points and six assists… Justin Reyes added 13 points, while Ross Greenfield came off the bench to record a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds…As a team the Spartans shot 56.5-percent from the field and were locked in from deep range connecting on 9-of-19.
