Tigers Rally Big on Senior Day to Clinch Postseason Berth



Philadelphia, Pa. - Sophomore Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored her conference leading 12th goal of the season in the 89th minute to give the Holy Family University women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field on Senior Day. The victory clinched the team's 18th consecutive postseason berth into the CACC Tournament.

How It Happened
Trailing 1-0 late in the second half, Holy Family finally lit up the scoreboard when redshirt sophomore Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley HS Center City) scored her sixth goal of the season in the 71st minute.  Ulmer received a pass from senior Samantha O'Donnell (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) from the top of the box and delivered a shot that beat goalkeeper Mary Kanzler to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The score remained tied 1-1 until the 89th minute when Rock struck for the 12th time this season.  Sophomore Alyssa Christiansen (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) found Rock with a pass to the left side and then finished with a shot beating Kanzler as she came out of net to defend the play.  It marked Rock's fifth game-winning goal of the season.
 
Senior Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) picked up her first win of the season as she made four saves in net for the Tigers.
 
Caldwell's Carlyn Salus scored the Cougars' lone goal in the 49th minute for her ninth score of the season.  Jessica LaConde assisted on the play after bringing the ball up the field on the left side before finding Salus inside the box with a cross pass.
 
Senior Recognition
Prior to the game Holy Family honored its senior class with a pregame ceremony.  The Tigers recognized Alyssa Bollard (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), Booth, Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower), O'Donnell, Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) and Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional).  
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 22nd meeting all-time between Holy Family and Caldwell dating back to 1999.  With the win the Tigers are now 17-5-0 all-time versus the Cougars, including 10-1-0 at Tiger Field.
 
Postseason Picture
Holy Family has officially clinched a spot in the CACC Tournament marking the 18th consecutive season the Tigers will appear in the postseason.  The Tigers are currently sixth in the conference standings and could move up to as high as fourth with a win in the regular season finale and help along the way. 
 
Next Up
Holy Family will wrap up the 2016 regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 as the Tigers travel to face Georgian Court University.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
