Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Blanked by Nationally Ranked Saint Rose, 6-0




Albany, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team suffered a 6-0 setback at the College of Saint Rose in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Golden Knights entered the game ranked third nationally. 
 
Holy Family is now 1-1-0 overall, while Saint Rose improves to 2-0-0 on the young season.
 
Senior Silvana Giovannone scored the game's first goal in the opening minutes as she tallied her third score of the season in the 2nd minute.  Her goal was the first of four scores by the Golden Knights in the half.  Saint Rose received goals from senior Amanda Vasquez (15:24), sophomore Morgan Burchhardt (20:04) and freshman Aline Stockli (30:03).
 
Saint Rose pressured the Tigers defense with 24 first half shots as junior goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made 10 saves of the 14 shots on target.  She went on to finish the game with a career-high 12 saves.
 
The Golden Knights tacked on two more scores in the second half, including Burchhardt's second of the game in the 60th minute.  Sophore Raven Small closed out the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.
 
Holy Family is back in action a week from today on Sept. 12 as the Tigers host Nyack College in the home opener.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
