Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spartans Edge Tigers in Non-Conference Tilt

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team suffered a one goal defeat as Saint Thomas Aquinas College came away with a 2-1 victory in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 0-4-0 overall, while Saint Thomas Aquinas improves to 2-3-0 overall.

Junior Christopher Tracey (Abington, Pa./Abington) gave the Tigers the lead midway through the first half as he connected on a shot after receiving a pass from senior Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa./Philmont Christian Academy) from the right side.  Tracey's first goal of the season in the 30th made the score 1-0 in favor of the Tigers.

The lead didn't hold for long as the Spartans came back five minutes later with the equalizing goal.  Michael Corbi tied the game with his second goal of the season in the 36th minute.  Alejand Coyt-Orozco assisted on the play after taking control of a loose ball that deflected off a defender.

In the closing minute of the half, Saint Thomas Aquinas struck again as Coyt-Orozco scored a goal of his own to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead prior to halftime.

The score remained that way through the next 45 minutes of action as neither team found the back of the net in the second half.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 as the Tigers host Concordia College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
