Game One: Holy Family 4, Bloomfield 0 In the opener sophomore pitcher
Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs) (3-2) shutdown the Bloomfield offense allowing just four hits in a complete seven inning shutout victory. Walters struck out two batters and issued three walks in her first shutout of the season.
The Tigers gave Walters an early lead with a run in the first inning. Sophomore
Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) led the inning off with a walk and would later score after Orozco doubled down the left field line to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Holy Family extended its lead in the third inning with a pair of runs. With two outs in the inning, Favinger doubled to right field. Bloomfield elected to intentionally walk Orozco with first base open to face junior
Kristine Casey (Newark, Del./Caravel).
Casey made the Bears pay as she singled down the right field line scoring Favinger. Freshman
Jennifer Trapp (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) followed with another single to left field to drive in Orozco to make the score 3-0.
Holy Family tacked on one more run in the fourth inning when Favinger singles down the right field line scoring junior
Alexis Daubert (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) who reached base earlier in the inning with a bunt single.
Favinger, the CACC Rookie of the Week, finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with one run and one RBI.
Bloomfield starter, sophomore Kirsten Wilson (11-4) dropped just her fourth outing of the season after going the distance for the Bears. She tied her season-high allowing four runs on eight hits. Wilson, who leads, the CACC in lowest earned run average and strikeouts, recorded nine strikeouts on the afternoon.
Game Two: Holy Family 13, Bloomfield 1 (5 Innings) In game two, a nine run fourth inning for Holy Family highlighted the game. Already leading 4-1, the Tigers exploded for seven hits in the inning and two home runs. With two runs already scored in the inning, Favinger connected on her third home run of the season, a three-run shot to dead center field to give the Tigers a 9-1 lead.
Holy Family continued its offensive surge thanks to back-to-back infield hits by Orozco and Casey following Favinger's home run. Trapp followed with a fielder's choice as Bloomfield elected to get the force out at third for the first out of the inning. Walters was then hit by a pitch to load the bases setting the stage for an even bigger inning.
Cudeyro answered the call as she connected on a pitch and sent it over the left field fence for her first career home run. Her grand slam capped the scoring to give the Tigers a 13-1 advantage. It also marked Cudeyro's second hit of the inning as she led off with a single to left field. She finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI.
With plenty of offensive support, Orozco (6-2) cruised to her sixth victory of the season as she limited the Bears to just six hits in five innings of work. She struck out two batters and allowed one unearned run.
Favinger and Orozco each went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs apiece. Casey finished 2-for-3 with two runs, while Scotto went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
For Bloomfield, freshman Bayley Legarreta drove in the team's lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Freshman Aubrey Orr was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Bears.
