New Haven, Conn. - Freshman shortstop
Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 5 as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Favinger is earning CACC weekly honors for the first time in her career.

In eight games played last week, in which the Tigers went 3-5, Favinger went 14-for-26 at the plate to record a .538 batting average. She also had six extra base hits, including two doubles, one triple and two home runs. In addition, Favinger scored 11 times and drove in eight runs.

Favinger highlighted the week with a 3-for-4 performance in game one at Georgian Court University. She hit her first career home run, while driving in three runs and scoring twice in the game. Later in the week at Chestnut Hill College, Favinger had another three hit game in which she went 3-for-3 in game two. All three hits were for extra bases and included two doubles and a home run.

For the week, Favinger scored in seven of the eight games and had multiple hits in six of them.Â

This season, Favinger is currently batting .419 (18-43), fifth best in the CACC, to go along with 14 runs and eight RBI.Â

Holy Family (8-6, 8-6 CACC) is back in action today as the Tigers host Bloomfield College in a CACC doubleheader. Game one is currently scheduled for 3 p.m. at Helen Randle Park in Newtown.
