Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team extended its season long winning streak to six games after defeating visiting Mercy College by the score of 19-8 in a non-conference contest on Monday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family improves to 8-3 overall, while Mercy is now 4-7 overall this season.

The Holy Family offense exploded for 19 goals; one shy of the team's season-high. The Tigers had six scorers tally multiple goals in the game, including juniors
Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) and
Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) who led the way with four goals each.

Braungart finished with four goals and an assist for five points to go along with a team-high five ground balls. She also caused three turnovers and controlled four draws. Settar also finished with four goals and an assist as she surpassed the 40-goal mark for the second consecutive season. Settar currently leads the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with 41 goals.Â

Senior
Christina Bonomo (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) finished with five points after netting three goals and assisting on two. Junior
Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) added three goals, while senior
Sarah Kelly (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) tallied three goals and one assist. Freshman
Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) added two goals on the afternoon.

Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) controlled four draws and picked up two ground balls on defense.Â

For Mercy, junior Nicole Augustine and freshman Nicole Kleet each scored a team-high two goals to lead the Mavericks' offense. Kleet also finished with two ground balls.Â

Holy Family jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Bachmayer opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 21:43 mark. On the ensuing draw, Lancetta gained control and found Bonomo for the team's second goal in a matter of :12 seconds.Â

Mercy responded with a goal of its own minutes later when Kleet scored the first of her two scores of the game. From there, Holy Family responded with seven straight goals to take a commanding 9-1 lead into the final minutes of the first half.

Mercy managed to pick up two scores to close out the half to cut the deficit to 9-3 by halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers opened with two straight 'man-down' scores by Braungart and Kelly to lead 11-3 less than two minutes into the half.Â

The Mavericks followed with three straight goals to make the score 11-6, but the Tigers' offense erupted for five unanswered goals over an eight minute span to put the game out of reach. Bonomo ended the surge with her second score with sophomore
Nicole Mansi (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) assisting on the play to give the Tigers a 16-6 advantage.

Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made eight saves in net in 51:02 minutes of action. Freshman
Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) relieved Deckert and made one stop in less than nine minutes in net.Â

Holy Family outshot the Mavericks, 34-26, and held the edge in ground balls (23-18) and draws (16-13).

Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, April 8 as the Tigers travel to face Post University in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
