Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Tigers Edge Philadelphia to Extend Win Streak to Five

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior Sarah Kelly (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) scored the game-winning goal off a free position shot with one second left on the clock to lift the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

Holy Family, winners of five straight games, improves to 7-3 overall with the victory.  Philadelphia is now 4-6 overall.  Both the Tigers and Rams will face one another again on April 14 in a contest that will count towards the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standings.

Senior Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Holy Family offense.  Junior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) added four goals to go along with three ground balls and three draw controls, while senior Christina Bonomo (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) tallied a pair of goals and caused two turnovers.

Sophomores Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) each tallied three ground balls to share the team lead with Settar.  Senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) finished with two caused turnovers as well as two ground balls.

For Philadelphia, seniors Allison Brian and Lauren Hartman along with junior Liz Mower each tallied three goals and assist to combine for 12 points on the afternoon.  Junior Katie Parent totaled a game-high six ground balls to go along with two draw controls.

With the score tied 12-12 in the final minute of regulation, Bonomo caused a turnover after Philadelphia made a successful clear out of the Holy Family zone.  After Holy Family made a clear of its own, the Tigers maintained position as time continued to run off the clock.  With seconds remaining, Kelly was fouled an awarded a free position shot.

Kelly converted the shot as time expired to give the Tigers the one goal victory.  It was Kelly's only score of the game as she finished the game with two points after assisting on a goal earlier in the game.  She also tallied a game-high six draw controls.

Philadelphia overcame two five-goal deficits during the game; one in each half.  The Tigers led by as many as 7-2 late in the first half and 12-7 midway through the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made five saves in net for the Tigers after facing 26 shots by the Rams.  In fact, both teams finished with 26 shots for the game and were fairly balanced in other statistical categories.

Philadelphia held the slight edge in ground balls (21-16) and in draw controls (14-12).

Holy Family is back in action on Monday, April 6 as the Tigers host Mercy College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
