Game One: Georgian Court 9, Holy Family 7Â
In the opener, a six run third inning by Georgian Court was the difference in the game. The Lions totaled three hits and took advantage of two errors in the inning by the Tigers. Junior Meghan Sfraga had the biggest hit in the inning for the Lions as she cleared the bases with a grand slam home run to cap the scoring in the inning.
Â
Sfraga's homer gave Georgian Court an 8-3 as the Lions chased Holy Family starter, freshman
Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) (3-1), who allowed eight runs in 2.1 innings. Orozco, who entered the game with 0.39 earned run average, struck out two batters and allowed a season-high nine hits.Â
Â
Trailing 9-4 entering the sixth inning, the Holy Family offense came firing back as the first two batters, freshmen
Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) and
Jenna Vasquez (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy), reached base with back-to-back singles. Favinger followed with her first career home run over the right field fence to cut the score to 9-7 with a three-run shot. Favinger finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Â
Sophomore Abby Merryman (4-4) settled down and was able to get out of the inning without further damage for the Lions. Merryman rebounded in the seventh inning as she retired the Tigers in order to pick up her fourth win of the season. In a complete game effort, Merryman allowed seven runs (five earned) on 14 hits.Â
Â
Vasquez finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs. Sophomore
Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) also had a pair of hits going 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run for the Tigers.Â

Game Two: Georgian Court 10, Holy Family 6Â
In game two, Georgian Court opened with a five run first inning to take a commanding lead early in the contest. However, the Tigers got four of those runs back with a big inning of their own in the third inning.
Â
With two runners on base and two outs in the inning, Holy Family recorded four straight run scoring singles to cut the Georgian Court lead to 5-4. Junior
Kristine Casey (Newark, Del./Caravel), Trapp, Walters and Cudeyro all recorded two-out singles to produce the Tigers' runs.Â
Â
However, the Lions tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after senior Alyssa Paradiso and freshman Stefanie Aplin recorded back-to-back run scoring hits. Paradiso tripled to right field before Aplin drove her in with a single to left field.
Â
Holy Family scored a run in the sixth inning thanks to a RBI single by Trapp to make the score 7-5. Trapp finished the game 3-for4 with two RBI.Â
Â
However, the Lions once again responded with a three-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach at 10-5.Â
Â
The Tigers managed a run in the seventh, but Merryman was able to close the game out to earn the save. Merryman relieved starter, freshman Courtney Tylutki, in the fifth. Tylutki (4-8) went 4.2 innings as she allowed four runs on ten hits.
Â
Walters (2-1) received her first loss of the season after going 5.2 innings. She allowed ten runs, but only five were earned, on 13 hits. She finished the game with two strikeouts.Â
