Orozco and Walters Listed on CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Bailey Walters (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs) and freshman Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) received recognition from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this week as both players were named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending March 22 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Holy Family opened its season this past Wednesday at the University of the Sciences. The Tigers and Devils split the doubleheader with USciences taking the first game, 20-11. Holy Family bounced back in game two with a 7-3 victory.

Orozco had a successful collegiate debut as she finished the afternoon 5-for-7 at the plate to go along with three RBI. In addition, Orozco picked up her first career victory in the pitching circle with a complete game performance in game two. She struck out four batters and allowed three runs, all unearned, in seven innings.

Walters continued where she left off last season as she opened the new season going 4-of-7 at the plate, including her first home run of the season as well as three doubles. She also finished with one RBI and five runs on the afternoon. Walters highlighted the day with a 3-for-4 performance in game two where she recorded all four of her extra base hits.

In the pitching circle, Walters received a no decision in her first start. She lasted three innings allowing 10 runs, while striking out five batters.

Holy Family (1-1, 1-1 CACC) is back in action later today as the Tigers take on Wilmington University in a CACC doubleheader. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Helen Randle Park in Newtown, but due to field conditions the game has been shifted to Asbury Field in Newark, Del. Game one is slated for 3 p.m.
