The Cougars cut the lead down to two points by the end of the half as the Tigers took a 29-27 advantage into the locker rooms at halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers came out firing jumping out to a 12-point advantage within the first 3:11 of the half thanks to a 10-0 run to open things up.

As the half progressed, the Tigers increased their lead to as many as 13 points after a Fleming three-pointer made the score 51-38 with 10:48 showing on the clock.

However, Caldwell began chipping away at the deficit and eventually came within five points of the Tigers' lead on multiple occasions in the final minute.  After Lighty split a pair of free throws to make the score 71-66 with :20 seconds to play, the Tigers tacked on another point after Charles split a pair of free throws of his own.  With the score 72-66 with :16 seconds to play, the Cougars came up with a big three-pointer by Lighty to make it a one possession game.
