How We Got Here
American International led from beginning to end to upset nationally ranked Holy Family. The Tigers entered the week ranked No. 24 in the recent NABC/Division II National Top-25 Poll.  The Yellow Jackets limited Holy Family to just 7-of-33 shooting in the first half, including 3-of-22 from three-point range.

After a three-pointer by redshirt senior Eric Fleming (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made the score 10-8 at the 14:30 mark of the first half, the Yellow Jackets used a 24-9 run to take their biggest lead of the half.  A three-pointer by Trahmier Burrell capped the run to make the score 34-17 with 2:45 to play until halftime.  AIC would go on to take a 34-19 at the half as Holy Family scored the lone points in the final 2:45.

Burrell led Yellow Jackets with a game-high 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds to record a double-double.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets led by as many as 20 points (39-19) before Holy Family went on an 11-0 run early in the half.  The Tigers erased the double-digit deficit when senior Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 39-30 at the 15:30 mark.  Wysocki scored 11 of his season-high 14 points in the second half.

As the half progressed, Holy Family continued to chip away at the Yellow Jackets' lead and came within one point of the lead after another Wysocki three-pointer made the score 57-56 with 5:21 left in the half. AIC maintained it's lead and followed with a quick 5-0 run to cool off the Tigers.

Holy Family brought the game to within one possession with 2:24 to play when senior Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) split a pair of free throws to make the score 62-60. Stewart recorded his fifth double-double of the season after recording 15 points and a team-best 13 rebounds.

Despite the potential come-back bid, the Tigers were unable to get over the hump as the Yellow Jackets closed the game out with a 14-3 run over the final 2:24.
