Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers Take Care of Goldey-Beacom, 77-58

Philadelphia, Pa. - Seniors Marvin Crawford (Edison, N.J./J.P. Stevens) and Isaiah Gans (Philadelphia, Pa./Redemption Christian Academy) each scored 20 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 77-58 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

The win pushes the Tigers to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while the Lightning falls to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

It was a season-high performance for Crawford as he shot 8-of-12 from the field on his way to 20 points.  He also grabbed eight rebounds with two assists and two blocks.  Gans finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season.  With his 20 points, Gans is now four points away from becoming the 25th player in program history to register 1,000 in a career.  He'll enter his next game with 996 career points.

Redshirt senior Reggie Charles (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and senior Turhan Griffin (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Learning Center) paced the offense with eight assists apiece.  Charles finished the night with nine points, while Griffin added three points and four steals.  Senior Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) led the game with 12 rebounds to go along with three steals and three blocks on defense.

For Goldey-Beacom, junior Shakeem Wilson led the Lightning with 20 points after shooting 8-of-12 from the field.  Wilson also grabbed seven rebounds.  Junior Sameen Swint produced nine points, while fellow junior Parris Ridgeway-Higgs added eight points off the bench.

Holy Family made it a one-sided affair midway through the first half.  After a Goldey-Beacom basket at the 9:41 mark made it a two-point game (16-14), Holy Family went on a 22-8 run to close out the first half.  Senior Eric Fleming (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to cap the scoring in the half and give the Tigers a 38-22 halftime advantage.  Fleming finished the game with six points (2-6 3FG).

In the second half, the Tigers increased their lead to as many as 25 points when senior Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) knocked down a jumper to make the score 54-29.  Wysocki went on to score 11 points (5-7 FG) and grab five rebounds.

Holy Family shot 47.6-percent from the field for the game while holding Goldey-Beacom to 33.3-percent shooting.  The Tigers also scored 17 turnovers and recorded 11 steals and six blocks as a team.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 5 as the Tigers travel to face the University of the Sciences in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
