Tigers Fall to Cross-Town Rival Philadelphia



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to its cross-town rival, Philadelphia University, by the score of 4-1 on Tuesday night at RAMP Playground on the campus of Father Judge High School.
 
Holy Family is now 2-9-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the CACC, while Philadelphia improves to 5-3-3 overall and 3-2-1 in conference action.
 
Philadelphia scored the first three goals of the game, including two in the first half to take control early on in the match up.  The Rams struck in the 16th minute when Angelo Dambalas converted a penalty kick for his fifth goal of the season.
 
Later in the half, Philadelphia doubled its after a goal by Zach Brown in the 40th minute.  Brown's first goal of the season gave the Rams a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
 
In the second half, Philadelphia came away with an early goal to increase its lead to 3-0.  Juan Naranjo connected on a shot for his third goal of the season in the 54th minute.
 
Holy Family found the back of the net in the 67th minute to trim the Rams' lead to 3-1 when senior Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa./Philmont Christian Academy) tallied his first goal of the season.  Mbriwa collected a loose ball near the left post and connected on a shot from six yards out. 
 
Philadelphia capped the game's scoring with a goal in the 86th minute by Dominic Rodriguez. 
 
Holy Family junior goalkeeper Dylan Rutledge (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) made three saves in net after facing 13 shots on the night.  His counterpart, Ben Sauer, also made three stops for the Rams after facing 11 shots by the Tigers.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10 as the Tigers travel to face Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
