Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Shackleford Lifts Tigers to 3-2 Victory

Waterbury, Conn. - Junior Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) scored the game-winning goal in the 108th minute to give the Holy Family University women's soccer team a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Post University on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

With the win, Holy Family improves to 6-4-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the CACC.  Post is now 5-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference action.

Shackleford sent the Tigers home with the win after connecting on a shot with 2:31 remaining in the final overtime period.  Shackleford received a centering pass from freshman Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) to set up the game-winning shot.  The goal marked her fourth of the season and second of the game.

With less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, Shackleford scored the game-tying goal to send the game into overtime.  Senior Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) assisted on the play.

Prior to Shackleford's first goal of the game, junior Samantha O'Donnell (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) converted a shot for her first goal of the season.  O'Donnell's score in the 64th minute jump-started the come-from-behind victory.  The Tigers found themselves trailing, 2-0, by halftime.

Lexxi Carroll gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute after grabbing a hold of her own rebounded shot for her fourth goal of the season.  Later in the half, Sam Rodriguez doubled the lead with a goal in the 39th minute.

The Holy Family defense literally shut down the Post offense in the second half and into overtime.  After allowing nine shots in the first half, the Tigers limited the Eagles to just one shot, which came in the first overtime period.

Junior goalkeeper Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) made a pair of saves in net for the Tigers.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10 as the Tigers travel to face Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
