Tigers Shutdown Nyack, 3-0

Philadelphia, Pa. - Redshirt freshman Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored two goals to help lead the Holy Family University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Monday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family, winners of five straight games, improves to 10-4-0 overall and 8-1-0 in the CACC.  The victory pushes the Tigers in a tie for second place in the conference standings with Georgian Court University (8-0-0).  Both teams currently have 24 points and trail only Post University (8-1-1) for first place by one point.

Nyack is now 1-13-1 overall and 1-8-0 in conference action.

Holy Family launched 26 shots in the game, including 15 in the first half.  The Tigers finally found the back of the net midway through the half when senior Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) broke through the defense and went on to beat Nyack goalkeeper, Jordan Jansen, with a break-away shot.

Richards goal came in the 28th minute for her second of the season.  Ulmer fed Richards a pass through the defense to jump-start the play.

Later in the half, Ulmer connected on the first of her two scores of the game.  Jansen came out of the net to try to beat Ulmer from attempting a shot, but was unable to stop the play as Ulmer had a wide-open shot of the net to double the Tigers' lead in the 35th minute.  Junior Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) was credited with an assist on the play.

Ulmer scored again in the 69th minute to give the Tigers a 3-0 advantage.  Ulmer received a pass from Richards from the right side into the box and was able to find the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.  She finished the day with two goals and an assist for five points.

Junior goalkeeper Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) faced only seven shots and made three saves for the Tigers as she recorded her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career.  Booth is now 6-2-0 this season as she lowered her goals against average to 1.19

Jansen totaled eight saves in net for the Warriors after facing 26 shots by the Tigers.  With the eight saves, she now has 101 stops this season.
