Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers Fall to Bloomsburg, 3-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to visiting Bloomsburg University by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half after scoring back-to-back goals in a span of two-plus minutes.  Sophomore Brett Milden received a cross-pass from redshirt sophomore Austin Transue to connect on his second goal of the season in the 23rd minute to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Moments later Transue tallied his first of two goals on the afternoon.  Transue headed in a loose ball that was stopped by senior goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU) but the ball ended up slipping past the goal line and was called a goal on the field to give Bloomsburg a 2-0 advantage.

The score remained that way the rest of the half until the Tigers cut into the Huskies' lead in the 52nd minute with a goal of their own.  Senior Kevin McCollick (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) headed in his second goal of the season after receiving a cross pass from freshman Matthew Tracey (Abington, Pa./Abington) inside the box.  McCollick's goal made the score 2-1.

However, Bloomsburg responded in the 55th minute when Transue collected a loose ball inside the box and found the back of the net for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.  Transue's second goal of the game gave the Huskies a 3-1 lead.

Ongaro went on to make two saves for the Tigers in 33 minutes of work, while junior Dylan Rutledge (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) finished the game and made four stops in 56-plus minutes of action for the Tigers.

Bloomsburg finished the game outshooting Holy Family by a 16-10 margin.  Redshirt sophomore Jacob Pesarcik made three saves in net for the Huskies.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 17 as the Tigers host Felician College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
