Tigers Drain 14 Three’s in 97-77 Victory Over Goldey-Beacom



Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Isaiah Gans (Philadelphia, Pa./Redemption Christian Academy) scored a career-high 29 points after draining a career-best six three-pointers as the Holy Family University men's basketball team defeated visiting Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 97-77 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium. 
 
Holy Family improves to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the CACC, while Goldey-Beacom is now 4-10 overall and 1-5 in conference action.
 
Gans was one of five players to score in double-figures for the Tigers as he shot an impressive 11-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-10 from deep range.  Gans produced six of the team's 14 three-pointers as the Tigers shot 46.7-percent (14-30) from beyond the arc.  He also recorded seven rebounds and blocked a season-high six shots.
 
Redshirt junior Reggie Charles (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) finished with 16 points to go along with a season-high nine assists.  Junior Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) recorded his first double-double of the season after totaling 12 points and game-high 13 rebounds.  Stewart shot 5-of-8 from the field and scored nine of his 12 points in the first half. 
 
Junior Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) also finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 2-of-2 from deep range.  He also grabbed three boards and blocked two shots.  Junior Marvin Crawford (Edison, N.J./J.P. Stevens) filled the stat sheet with ten points, five rebounds, six assists and a game-high three steals.  Junior Turhan Griffin (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Learning Center) added nine points and four assists.
 
For Goldey-Beacom, sophomore Sameen Swint led the Lightning with 24 points (7-14 FG) to go along with a team-high seven assists.  Freshman Daniel Cooper came off the bench and scored 20 points after shooting a near perfect 10-of-12 from the field. 
 
With the game tied 14-14 at the 12:29 mark of the first half, Holy Family quickly mounted a double-digit lead using an 11-0 run in less than a three minute span.  Charles capped the Tigers' surge with a three-pointer to make the score 25-14.
 
Holy Family would go on to lead by as many as 25 points in the half after Wysocki tipped-in a miss shot to make the score 50-25 with less than three minutes to play until halftime.  The Tigers finished the half with a 57-36 advantage as Wysocki capped the scoring with a layup at the buzzer.
 
In the second half, the Tigers maintained their large lead and would finish the game shooting a season-best 57.8-percent (37-64) from the field.  The 97 points marked a season-high for the Tigers.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Sunday, Jan. 11 as the Tigers travel to face West Chester University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
