Tigers Drop CACC Contest at Felician 64-60



Rutherford, N.J. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team were edged by Felician College by the score of 64-60 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. 
 
Holy Family is now 10-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while Felician is now 1-11 overall and 1-5 in the CACC after picking up its first victory of the season.
 
Redshirt junior Reggie Charles (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) led the Tigers' offense with 18 points, while junior Isaiah Gans (Philadelphia, Pa./Redemption Christian Academy) recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Junior Marvin Crawford (Edison, N.J./J.P. Stevens) added 11 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.  Crawford also dished out four assists.
 
Juniors Turhan Griffin (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Learning Center) and Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) each came off the bench to total eight points apiece.  Griffin added five rebounds and four assists. 
 
For Felician, senior Jeyvi Miavivululu finished with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Senior J.R. Pringley scored 13 points and led the Golden Falcons with nine rebounds.  Sophomore Tim Massado produced 11 points off the bench. 
 
The Holy Family offense came out firing despite shooting a season-low 29.3-percent from the field.  The Tigers opened the game with a 17-3 run to lead by as many as 14 points by the 11:49 mark.
 
Over the next seven minutes, Felician countered with a 17-2 surge of its own to take a 20-19 lead with 4:32 to play until halftime.  Holy Family quickly responded on the ensuing possession as a jumper by Wysocki jump-started a mini 9-0 run as the Tigers led 28-20.  A fast-break dunk by Gans capped the run with 1:32 left on the clock.
 
The Tigers went on to lead 28-23 entering the locker rooms at halftime.
 
In the second half, Holy Family maintained its lead up until midway through the half when Felician grabbed a 41-40 lead after a jumper by Miavivululu.  The Golden Falcons led by as many as five points at the 7:32 mark with a 49-44 advantage.
 
Holy Family recaptured the lead 2:28 minutes later when a three pointer by Gans gave the Tigers a 52-51 lead with five minutes left in regulation.  From that point, the game saw five lead changes and four ties during the final five minutes. 
 
With the game tied at 60-60, Miavivululu gave the Golden Falcons a two-point lead after hitting a jumper with :38 seconds left on the clock.  On the ensuing Tigers' possession, Holy Family fell short on two shot attempts before Felician grabbed a defensive board.  As a result, the Tigers were forced to foul sending the Golden Falcons to the free throw line with :10 seconds remaining.
 
Damiun Moore made both free throws to secure the victory for the Golden Falcons.
 
As a team, Holy Family committed a season-low five turnovers. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 7 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 8 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
