Tigers Fall to Nationally Ranked No. 6 Saint Rose, 6-0

Philadelphia, Pa. - The College of Saint Rose scored five second half goals and went on to defeat the Holy Family University women's soccer team by the score of 6-0 in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.
 
Holy Family is now 1-2-0 overall, while Saint Rose, ranked sixth in the NSCAA Preseason National Poll, improves to 2-0-0 with the victory.
 
Senior Carmelina Puopolo led the way for the Golden Knights as she finished the afternoon with three scores, including the game's first tally in the 39th minute. 
 
Saint Rose led 1-0 at the half and began the second half with an offensive surge.  The Golden Knights scored three times within the first ten minutes of the half, including two more scores by Puopolo. 
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made a season-high ten stops in net for the Tigers, including a penalty kick stop in the 22nd minute. 
 
For the Golden Knights, sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Homer made three saves and recorded her second straight shutout to start the season.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 11 as the Tigers host LIU Post in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
