Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the game's lone goal in the 27
th minute as the Holy Family University women's soccer team defeated New York Tech by the score of 1-0 in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at President's Stadium.
Holy Family is now 1-1-0 overall this season, while New York Tech falls to 0-2-0.
Kisselback's first goal of the season came midway through the first half as she beat New York Tech goalkeeper Vanessa Cordoba to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The score also marked Kisselback's tenth career goal.
The score remained 1-0 the rest of the way as the Tigers avenged last year's defeat by the Bears to pick up their first win of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made seven saves in net for the Tigers, including one key save in the final minute of action. New York Tech's Dina Simonian managed to get off a shot with :26 seconds remaining in regulation, but Smith made the stop to preserve the victory and shutout. It marked Smith's eighth career complete shutout.
Holy Family outshot the Bears, 20-15, for the game.
Holy Family is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 7 as the Tigers host nationally ranked No. 6 the College of Saint Rose in a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
