Tigers Come Away With Key CACC Victory Over Post, 3-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team defeated visiting Post University by the score of 3-1 in a battle for first place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) by the score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

With the win, Holy Family improves to 6-3-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the CACC as the Tigers took over sole possession of first place in the conference standings.  With just over a month to play in the season the Tigers currently control the top of the standings with 15 points.  Post is now 5-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the CACC as the Eagles suffered their first conference loss of the season.

Holy Family jumped on the scoreboard first when sophomore Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) received a pass from junior Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) and beat goalkeeper, junior Laura Morgan for her sixth goal of the season.  Shackleford's goal came in the ninth minute.

Post would eventually tie the game in the 40th minute, as freshman Sam Rodriguez scored her second goal of the season.  Both teams entered halftime with the game tied at 1-1.

In the second half, sophomore Brittany Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) broke the 1-1 score when she connected on a pass from Shackleford to beat a diving freshman Brittany Carroll for her first goal of the season.  Carroll entered the game in net for the Eagles at the start of the second half.

The score remained 2-1 in the Tigers favor and increased when senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) recorded her sixth goal of the season in the 87th minute.  Junior Marie Bisirri (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) assisted on the score.

Sophomore Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) recorded her third victory in as many games as she made a career-high ten saves in net for the Tigers.  In three games, Booth has made 19 saves and has allowed one goal in 270:00 minutes of action.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 as the Tigers travel to face Felician College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.  Next weekend's game marks the start of a five-game span of road contests for the Tigers.
