Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Edged by Felician, 2-1

Lyndhurst, N.J. -  The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Felician College by the score of 2-1 on Saturday evening at Lyndhurst Recreation.

Holy Family is now 6-4-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the CACC, while Felician improves to 5-2-2- overall and 4-1-1 in conference action.

The Tigers found themselves trailing 2-0 late in the first half after Felician scored back-to-back goals in the 31st and 32nd minute.  Junior Marissa Nieves scored the game's first goal connecting on a diagonal cross pass from freshman Amanda Nowak for her second score of the season.  Less than a minute later, the Golden Falcons struck again when freshman Katina Koslowski tapped-in a pass from junior Jordan Farley.  It marked Koslowski's second goal of the season.

The score remained 2-0 through the rest of the half and into the second half.  The Tigers finally broke through on the scoreboard late in the game.  Sophomore Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 79th minute to cut the lead in half at 2-1.  Senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) was credited with the assist on the play.

Holy Family had opportunities to tie the game in the final minutes but shots by senior MaryKate Morris (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's) and junior Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) in the 88th minute were off target.  In the 89th minute, Kisselback managed a shot on goal but Felician goalkeeper, junior Julia Sheridan, made the save to halt a Holy Family comeback.  Sheridan made five saves after facing 14 shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) made six saves in net for the Tigers after facing 17 shots by the Golden Falcons.

Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 8 as the Tigers continue their five-game road trip at Queens College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
