Tigers Fall at Pace, 3-1




Pleasantville, N.Y. - Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) each recorded double-digits in kills and digs but it wasn't enough as the Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference contest at Pace University by the score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Holy Family is now 3-9 overall, while Pace improves to 3-6 overall with the victory.
 
After dropping the first set, 25-20, the Tigers bounced back to take the second set by the score of 25-16.  Holy Family led 14-13 and went on to score eight of the next ten points to lead 22-15 after a kill by D. Ingram.  The Tigers went on to clinch the set after a kill by redshirt sophomore Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol).
 
Pace went on to win the next two sets after coming back from early deficits in both sets.  The Setters won the third set by the score of 25-23 and then clinch the match with a 25-19 win in set four.
 
D. Ingram led the Tigers with a season-high 13 kills to go along with 19 digs.  Johnson added 11 kills and ten digs, while Herring contributed nine kills. 
 
Freshman Kacie Brien (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) finished with ten digs and 36 set assists, while fellow classmate Cecilia Weir (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) produced 14 digs on defense.  Sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) led the defense with a career-high 25 digs.
 
For Pace, junior Alyssa Marchino led the team with 13 kills and 28 digs.  Junior Rebecca Italiano finished with 27 digs, while junior Sara Anastasi totaled 18 set assists.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.  Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
