Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers Fall Short to Bloomfield, 2-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Bloomfield College by the score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 1-3-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the CACC, while Bloomfield improves to 2-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, Bloomfield was the first to light up the scoreboard when junior Jonathon Callagahan scored in the 57th minute off a pass from freshman Ishamel Soria.

The Bears would tack on another goal minutes later when sophomore Rafique Roberts made a cross pass into the box waiting for sophomore Jonathan Marin to connect on the score.  Marin's goal in the 61st minute doubled the Bears lead to 2-0.

Less than five minutes later, Holy Family would strike when junior Tom Kostick (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) converted a penalty kick attempt.  The Tigers were awarded a free kick after a handball foul by the Bears inside the box.  Kostick's scored in the 65th minute was his first of the season.

Holy Family came close to tying the game in the 83rd minute, but a shot by junior Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa./Philmont Christian Academy) hit off the post.  Minutes later, a shot by junior Kevin Pohl (Trevose, Pa./Father Judge) sailed high over the cross bar for the final shot of the game by either team.

Junior goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU) made six saves in net for the Tigers, while sophomore Arthur Clapot made four stops for the Bears.  Clapot left the game late in the second half after an apparent injury.  Freshman Wilson Cisneros came in for the final seven-plus minutes.

Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 as the Tigers travel to face Georgian Court University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
