Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers Fall to Georgian Court, 4-2

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University scored three second half goals on its way to a 4-2 victory over the Holy Family University men's soccer team in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday afternoon at Investors Savings Bank Field.

Holy Family is now 1-4-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the CACC, while Georgian Court improves to 2-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.

Georgian Court got things going early on with a goal in the fourth minute.  Sophomore Michael Clarke scored his fourth goal of the season after knocking in his own rebounded shot.  The lead didn't last long as the Tigers quickly responded with a goal of their own.

In the sixth minute, sophomore Christopher Tracey (Abington, Pa./Abington) scored his first goal of the season heading in a shot off a corner kick attempt by sophomore Justin Hiltwine (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge).  It marked Hiltwine's team-leading fourth assist of the season.

The score remained tied 1-1 until the 29th minute when the Tigers were rewarded a penalty kick.  Junior Tom Kostick (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) went on to convert the penalty kick for his second score of the season to give the Tigers a 2-1 advantage.  Kostick is a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season.

In the second half, Georgian Court tied the game in the opening minutes when sophomore Jordan Eugenis knocked in a shot off a rebounded shot in the 49th minute.

Less than ten minutes later, senior Ben Vergara gave the Lions the lead for the first time since the opening minutes of the first half.  Vergara received a pass from Clarke to assist on the score.

Vergara would double the Lions' lead at 4-2 in the closing minute as he converted a penalty kick for his fifth score of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU) made ten saves in net for the Tigers after facing 22 total shots by Georgian Court.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 27 as the Tigers host Post University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.  The game also represents Alumni Day for the men's and women's soccer teams.  An alumni game will be played at Nazareth Academy Soccer Field at 11 a.m.
