Tigers Drop Non-Conference Match at So. Connecticut, 3-0




New Haven, Conn. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference contest at Southern Connecticut State University by the score of 3-0 on Friday night at the Moore Field House.
 
Holy Family is now 3-8 overall, while Southern Connecticut improves to 2-6 overall.
 
The Owls won the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-17.
 
Junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led the Tigers with 11 kills to go along with eight digs.  Junior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) and freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) each totaled five kills apiece on the attack.  Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) also recorded 12 digs on the defensive side.
 
Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) each led the team with 14 digs.  Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) also recorded 21 set assists. 
 
For Southern Connecticut, sophomore Nicole Hauser and freshman Alexandra Nimz each recorded dougle-digit kills.  Hauser led the match with 14 kills, while Nimz came away with ten kills and 12 digs.  Junior Morgan Carman finished with the match-high 23 digs.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 as the Tigers travel to face Pace University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
