Tigers Score Three Second Half Goals; Defeats Wilmington, 3-2

Newark, Del. - Trailing by two scores at the half, the Holy Family University women's soccer team scored three second half goals to rally past Wilmington University by the score of 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Thursday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Holy Family improves to 3-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the CACC, while Wilmington is now 0-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in CACC play.

Wilmington jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to freshman Loran Wyrough who came through with a pair of goals in a one-minute span.  Wyrough scored in the 12th minute on a penalty kick and followed with a goal in the 13th minute to give the Wildcats a 2-0 advantage.

Holy Family finally broke through on the scoreboard in the second half as the Tigers scored three unanswered goals in a five-plus minute span.  Senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the team's first goal in the 53rd minute for her second score of the season.

About a minute later, the Tigers struck again as sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) tied the game on a header at the far post following a corner kick attempt by Kisselback.

Minutes later Holy Family would go on to take the lead for the first time as senior MaryKate Morris (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's) converted a shot from about 12-yards out on a cross pass by Coyle and a back pass by sophomore Ashley Shackelford.

Holy Family nearly tacked on another goal in the 63rd minute when a header shot by Coyle hit off the post.

Later in the half, Wilmington nearly tied the game, but were unable to get a shot past freshman Shannon Metzler (Erial, N.J./St. Josephs (Hammonton)) who replaced starting goalkeeper Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) early in the second half due to injury.

Metzler made two saves in net to earn the victory, including one save in the 83rd minute. McNesby finished with three saves in her first career start.

Wilmington goalkeeper Kierstyn Williams made three saves on the afternoon.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 as the Tigers host Bloomfield College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m. at Tiger Field.
