Tigers Drop CACC Contest at Wilmington, 5-1

Newark, Del. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Wilmington University by the score of 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletic Complex.

Holy Family is now 1-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play, while Wilmington improves to 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the CACC.

It didn't take long for Wilmington to get things going offensively as the Wildcats scored the game's first goal in the fifth minute of action.  Junior Josh Fawssett found a wide open net after receiving a tap pass from junior Samuel Naiwo.  Fawssett became the first player to score on junior goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU).

Ongaro's shutout streak ended at 314:14 minutes as he faced 13 shots in the first half.  Ongaro made one save in net in 45 minutes of action.

Wilmington added another goal by Pedro Moreira in the 37th minute to take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats tacked on three more goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

Holy Family finally got on the board in the 87th minute when junior James Annobil (Northwales, Pa. (London)/Wissahickon) scored his first goal as a Tiger.  Annobil forced a turnover in the defensive zone and launched deep range shot past Wilmington goalkeeper Zach Lee.

Sophomore Dylan Rutledge (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) finished the game in net as he made two saves after facing nine shots in the second half for the Tigers.

Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 18 as the Tigers host cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at RAMP Playground in Northeast Philadelphia.
