Tigers Clinch Postseason Berth on Senior Night; Defeats Chestnut Hill



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team will be heading back to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament after defeating Chestnut Hill College, 3-1, in a CACC contest on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  Holy Family won by the scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18.
 
Holy Family improves to 12-17 overall and 10-8 in the CACC with the win and in the process snaps its season long five match losing streak.  Chestnut Hill is now 13-16 overall and 8-10 in conference action.
 
Prior to the match, Holy Family recognized its senior member, Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion), in part of Senior Night festivities.  D. Ingram filled the stat sheet with a match-high 41 set assists, 16 digs and four block assists.
 
Holy Family won the first set by the score of 25-21 before Chestnut Hill tied the match with a 25-23 victory in set number two.  However, the Tigers came through with back-to-back victories in the third and fourth set winning by the scores of 25-23 and 25-18 respectively. 
 
Holy Family led the entire third set as the Tigers opened with a 12-3 run to take control of the set.  In the fourth set the Tigers opened in similar fashion leading the entire set except for the short moment when the score was tied 4-4.  From that point, the Tigers scored seven unanswered points on its way to the victory.
 
Junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) tallied a career-high 22 kills to lead the Tigers' attack.  She also recorded 12 digs and had three total blocks on defense.  Junior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) added 11 kills on offense and led the match with six total blocks (1BS/5BA). 
 
Freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) finished the match with eight kills to go along with 17 digs, while sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) recorded a match-high 26 digs.  Freshman Cecilia Weir (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) recorded a season-high 15 kills to go along with three service aces.
 
For Chestnut Hill, junior Rachel Biro finished with a team-high 16 kills to go along with six digs and three block assists.  Sophomore Madison McBride totaled 14 kills and 20 digs, while freshman Melissa Shunk contributed seven kills and six total blocks (1BS/5BA). 
 
Junior Alyssa Tamsing had a match-high 45 set assists and 15 digs, while sophomore Regina Trabosh totaled a match-high 26 digs. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 as the Tigers travel to face Post University in the CACC regular season finale.  Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
