Tigers Fall to Wilmington, 3-1



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Wilmington University by the score of 3-1 on Tuesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The Wildcats took the match by the scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-18 and 26-24.
 
Holy Family is now 11-17 overall and 9-8 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 18-13 overall and 14-4 in conference action.  The Tigers currently sit in fourth place in the CACC South Division with only two matches to play in the regular season.  A win over Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday night will clinch the fourth seed in next week's CACC Tournament.  Meanwhile, Wilmington has already clinched a spot in the tournament and currently sits in second place in the division.
 
Junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led the match with 18 kills to go along with 15 digs on defense.  Freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) added double-digits in kills (13) and digs as well with 14.  Junior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) came away with 11 kills and six digs, while redshirt sophomore Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) produced seven kills. 
 
Sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) led the defense with 21 digs and added four set assists, while fellow classmate Katelyn Scherber (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) added five kills and seven digs.  Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) led the match with 47 set assists marking the fifth time this season she has recorded 40 or more assists. 
 
For Wilmington, four players recorded double-digits in kills, including Allison Briley who led the team with 14 kills.  Erin Bistany finished with 13 kills and a match-high .476 attack percentage.  Alex Siolos filled the stat sheet with 12 kills, 21 set assists and nine digs, while Kaitlin DiGiacinto finished with 10 kills and 26 digs.  Shelby Henderson totaled a match-high 34 digs.
 
As a team, Wilmington recorded an attack percentage of .253 after committing only 15 errors on 166 attempts.
 
As mentioned, Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 5 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill in a key CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  Prior to the match, Holy Family will recognize its senior class in part of Senior Night festivities.  In addition, tomorrow night's match is also Faculty Appreciation Night.
