Tigers Halted by Wilmington, 3-0




Newark, Del. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Wilmington University by the score of 3-0 on Friday night at the WU Athletic Complex.
 
Holy Family is now 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 7-11 overall and 4-2 in conference action.  Both the Tigers and Wildcats currently share the top spot in the CACC South Division standings along with Chestnut Hill College who is also 4-2.
 
Wilmington won the match by the scores of 25-16, 25-9 and 26-24.  The Wildcats took advantage of 23 attack errors by the Tigers throughout the night where as Wilmington committed only seven attack errors.  The Wildcats finished the match with a .272 attack percentage.
 
Junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led the Tigers with 13 kills and ten digs, while freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) added nine kills and five digs on defense.  Sophomore Katelyn Scherber (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) finished with four kills and four digs. 
 
Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) tallied 26 set assists to go along with ten digs.  Sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) totaled a team-high 15 digs. 
 
For Wilmington, sophomore Allison Briley led the team with ten kills and a match-high 17 digs.  Junior Kaitlin DiGlacinto and freshman Erin Bistany each finished with seven kills.  Junior Alex Siolos contributed four kills, 18 set assists and 11 digs.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 as the Tigers host Nyack College in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
