Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Shutout Dominican on Senior Day

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team needed only one goal to pick up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Dominican College by the score of 1-0 on Saturday morning at Tiger Field on Senior Day.

Prior to the game Holy Family recognized its five seniors in a pregame ceremony as the Tigers honored, MaryKate Morris (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's), Ashley DeOrio (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's), Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), Erin Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan).

Holy Family improves to 10-4-0 overall and 9-2-0 in the CACC, while Dominican is now 4-7-2 overall and 4-4-2 in conference action.  The Tigers are currently tied for first place with cross-town rival Philadelphia University.  The Rams are also 9-2-0 in conference play after falling to Felician College, 1-0, earlier today.

The Tigers dominated the first half as the offense launched 13 shots, while the defense limited Dominican to zero shots the entire half.  Holy Family was on target for eight of the 13 shots, including one in the 28th minute that found the back of the net.

Junior Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) connected on a shot inside the box after receiving a cross-pass from sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) from the far corner.  Richards beat the Dominican goalkeeper, senior Veronica Iozzi, for her first goal of the season.

The score remained 1-0 through halftime and into the second half.  The Tigers tacked on another six shots in the second half but were unable to get any by Iozzi who finished with nine saves.

Dominican four shots in the second half but were unable to get any past sophomore Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) who made a pair of saves to record her fourth shutout of the season.

Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 29 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in the regular season finale.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.  A win by Holy Family will clinch at least a share of the CACC Regular Season Title and possibly the top-seed in next month's conference tournament.
