Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Fall to Goldey-Beacom, 3-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team came up short in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season finale versus Goldey-Beacom College as the Lightning came away with a 3-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 10-5-0 overall and wraps up conference play with a 9-3-0 record.  The Tigers currently sit in second place in the CACC standings with 27 points.  Holy Family will either be the second or third seed in next week's conference tournament pending the outcome of tonight's Post University/Bloomfield College match up.  Post is currently in third place with 25 points.

Meanwhile, Goldey-Beacom improves to 8-5-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference action.  The victory marks the first time the Lightning have defeated the Tigers in the 15-year history of the all-time series.  Prior to today's meeting, Holy Family boasted a record of 16-0-1 versus Goldey-Beacom.

Holy Family struck first when sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) connected on her fourth goal of the season in the 22nd minute.  Coyle's goal gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead as senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) assisted on the play with her fifth helper of the season.  Kisselback now has a team-high 21 points this season (8G/5A).

Goldey-Beacom would go on to tie the game in the 37th minute off the first of two goals by junior Megan Harvis.  On her first score, Harvis beat a Holy Family defender and then found the back of the net after sneaking a shot past sophomore goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional).

Less than a minute later, Harvis struck again as she attempted a header shot off a pass from sophomore Becca Cordo to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead.

The score remained 2-1 heading into halftime, despite the Tigers outshooting the Lightning, 10-5.  Eight of the ten shots by Holy Family in the first half were on target.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cindell Aguirre went on to make seven saves in the game for the Lightning; all coming in the first half.

Goldey-Beacom tacked on another goal in the 72nd minute thanks to a penalty kick goal by senior Nicole Curry.

Smith went on to make four saves in net for the Tigers after facing 11 shots by the Lightning.

Holy Family is back in action on Monday, Nov. 3 as the Tigers host a CACC quarterfinal contest.  Game time is slated for 2 p.m. at Tiger Field against an opponent still to be determined.  Holy Family will be making its 16th straight CACC Tournament appearance dating back to the 1999 season.
