Tigers Shutout at Caldwell, 3-0



Caldwell, N.J. - In a battle of two first place teams, the Holy Family University women's volleyball team came up short at Caldwell College by the score of 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the George R. Newman Recreation and Athletic Center.
 
Caldwell won the match by the scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-20.
 
Holy Family is now 10-12 overall and 8-3 in the CACC, while Caldwell improves to 15-7 overall and 10-2 in conference action.  The Tigers are now in a three-way tie for second place in the CACC South Division with Philadelphia University and Wilmington University.  All three teams trail Georgian Court University (9-3) by one-half game in the division. 
 
Junior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) led the Holy Family attack with a match-high 11 kills to go along with a team-high three service aces.  Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) recorded 18 set assists and led the squad with ten digs.
 
Sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) finished with eight digs, while redshirt sophomore Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) and freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) each totaled four kills apiece. 
 
For Caldwell, senior Erica Harrell and freshman Taryn Auyong each totaled nine kills in the victory.  Harrell recorded a match-high .571 attack percentage making only one error on 14 attempts.  Senior Jaclyn Del Cid led the match with 19 digs on defense. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
