Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Coyle Sends Tigers Home With 1-0 Victory

Caldwell, N.J. - In a rematch of last year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game, the Holy Family University women's soccer team got its revenge with a 1-0 victory at Caldwell University on Saturday morning at the CU Athletics Field.

Holy Family improves to 9-4-0 overall and 8-2-0 in the CACC, while Caldwell falls to 6-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference action.  The victory keeps the Tigers in pace with Philadelphia University (9-1-0) for the top mark in the CACC standings.  Holy Family currently has 24 points, while the Rams are in first place with 27 points.

Sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) provided all the offense either team would produce on the afternoon as she broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 104th minute of double overtime.  Coyle connected on her third score of the season from 10-yards out beating Caldwell senior goalkeeper Robin Franchi.

Holy Family outshot Caldwell by a 17-8 margin, including 10-3 in the second half.  The Tigers also held the edge on corner kicks, 3-1.

Caldwell nearly came away with a potential game-winning score in the final seconds of the first overtime period.  A shot by Natalie Migoya hit off the crossbar with :15 seconds remaining in the period.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made three saves in net to pick up the victory as she improves to 5-2-0 this season.  The shutout also marks her third of the season and tenth of her career.

Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 as the Tigers host Dowling College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
