Two Second Half Goals Push Tigers Past Chestnut Hill

Lafayette Hill, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team scored two second half goals on its way to a 3-1 victory over Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Thursday afternoon at Victory Field #1 on the campus of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

The win improves the Tigers overall record to 8-4-0 and to 7-2-0 in conference action.  Meanwhile, Chestnut Hill is now 2-10-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the CACC.   Holy Family is now tied for second place in the CACC standings along with Post University (7-2-0).  Both teams have 21 points and trail first-place Philadelphia University (8-1-0) by three points as the Rams hold the top spot with 24 points.

Holy Family scored the game's first goal with minutes remaining in the first half.  Junior Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) scored her first goal of the season to break a 0-0 deadlock in the 42nd minute.  Abramski received a touch pass from senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) as she found an opening towards the right corner of the net.

Abramski's goal gave Holy Family a 1-0 advantage entering halftime as the Tigers dominated the first half outshooting the Griffins, 12-5.  Junior goalkeeper Kayla Reno made nine stops in the half for Chestnut Hill before being relieved by senior Samantha Pauls in the second half.  Holy Family went on to outshoot the Griffins, 31-10, as the Tigers attempted 30-plus shots for the second time this season.

In the second half, the Tigers wasted no time doubling their lead.  Kisselback made the score 2-0 in the 49th minute with her team leading eighth goal of the season. Kisselback received a pass from freshman Shannon Metzler (Erial, N.J./St. Josephs (Hammonton)) as she connected on a shot from the edge of the box towards the lower-right corner of the net.

Later in the half Chestnut Hill cut into the Tigers lead when freshman Morgan Ruth scored her first collegiate goal in the 62nd minute to make the score 2-1.

However, Holy Family responded with less than ten minutes to play in regulation as a goal by sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) gave the Tigers some breathing room down the stretch.  Abramski sent a centering pass towards Coyle for a one-touch finish.  It marked her second goal of the season.

Both Abramski and Kisselback finished the game with three points (1G/1A).

Sophomore goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) earned the victory in net as she finished the game with two saves.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 as the Tigers travel to face Caldwell University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 11 a.m.
