Tigers Come Up Short at Chestnut Hill, 3-1



Lafayette Hill, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Chestnut Hill College by the score of 3-1 on Tuesday night at Victory Field #1 on the campus of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
 
Holy Family is now 5-5-4 overall and 2-4-3 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill improves to 6-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference action.
 
Chestnut Hill jumped out to the game's first lead midway through the first half when freshman Joseph Casaletto connected on a shot towards the left post.  Casaletto's goal came in the 24th minute to give the Griffins a 1-0 advantage.

The lead would be short lived as the Tigers responded minutes later.  Junior Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa./Philmont Christian Academy) scored his third score of the season to tie the game in the 26th minute.  Holy Family took advantage of a turnover inside the box to notch the game at 1-1.
 
Chestnut Hill would regain the lead in the 33rd when junior Nicholas Jaffe converted a penalty kick attempt in the 33rd minute.  The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Griffins through half time and deep into the second half.  
 
In the 71st minute, junior Juan Amaya increased the Griffins' lead with an insurance goal to make the score 3-1.  Jaffe assisted on the score to finish the game with three points.
 
Junior goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU), who was recently named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, made three saves in net for the Tigers after facing 10 shots by the Griffins.
 
Sophomore James Jackson made five saves for the Griffins as Holy Family outshot Chestnut Hill, 15-10.  The Tigers also held the advantage on corner kicks by a 7-0 margin.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 as the Tigers travel to face Caldwell University in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 2:30 p.m.
