Tigers Cruise Past Felician, 3-0



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team won its third straight match as the Tigers took care of Felician College by the score of 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The Tigers won the match by the scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 26-24.
 
Holy Family improves to 9-10 overall and 7-2 in the CACC, while Felician drops to 5-9 overall and 3-7 in conference action.  The Tigers continue to hold ground atop the CACC South Division Standings, but only lead a tight division by one match in the win column and loss column.  Wilmington University (5-2), Chesnut Hill College (5-3), Georgian Court University (5-3) and Philadelphia University (5-3) all are within striking distance of first place.
 
Junior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) and freshman Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) provided the Tigers with enough offense on the attack combining for 27 of the team's 41 kills.  Johnson finished with 12 kills to go along with a .333 attack percentage, while M. Ingram finished with a match-high 15 kills and a .333 attack percentage as well.
 
Junior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) tied her season-high with seven service aces, including four straight aces in the first set. Herring for the week has totaled 14 service aces to bring her season total to 33.  She also recorded eight kills.
 
Senior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) finished with 23 set assists to go along with eight digs in the first two sets.  Freshman Kacie Brien (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) took over the setting duties in the third set and totaled 12 assists. Sophomore Laura Tamas (Rhode-St-Genese, Belgium) recorded eight digs on defense, while freshman Cecilia Weir (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) added six digs and two service aces. 
 
Also on defense, redshirt sophomore Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) totaled three blocks; one solo and two block assists.  Sophomore Katelyn Scherber (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) had two blocks; one solo and one assist.
 
For Felician, freshman Sally Taylor led the team with seven kills and eight digs, while senior Emma Reijonen finished with six kills and eight digs.  Junior Sarah Shebel had 17 set assists to go along with four digs. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 14 as the Tigers travel to face West Chester University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
