Newark, Del. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team's season came to an end as the Tigers came up short in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game by the score of 3-0 to Caldwell College on Saturday afternoon at the Wilmington University Athletic Complex.

Holy Family, seeded number one after winning the CACC Regular Season Title, concludes its season at 11-6-3, while second-seeded Caldwell improves to 13-5-2. The Cougars claimed their first-ever CACC Championship in program history and as a result earned the automatic qualifying bid into next week's NCAA Division II Tournament.Â

Junior Lauren Iulicci helped get Caldwell on the board first. After her shot was saved by Holy Family goalkeeper
Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional), sophomore Sarina Soriano followed as she knocked the ball into the back of the net after a second chance shot. Soriano's goal gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute.

Smith made two saves in net for the Tigers as she finished the season with 104 saves; the ninth most in program history in a single season.Â

Ten minutes later Caldwell struck again with Iulicci again helping on the score. Junior Natalie Migoya scored on a header in the 36
th minute after a free kick attempt by Iulicci. Junior Ashley Panknis also got credited for the assist after a header pass to Migoya.Â

The half finished with Caldwell leading by the score of 2-0. Holy Family managed only five shots the entire half and finished the game with 11. The Tigers had only four shots on target. Freshman
Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) led the Tigers with three shots, while sophomores
Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) and
Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) each had two shots. Freshman
Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) also had a pair of shots in the game.
At the conclusion of the championship game, Abramski, Richards and Shackleford were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Cougars added an insurance goal in the 53
rd minute when senior Julie Crankshaw converted a penalty kick attempt to make the score 3-0.
